Babe Ruth World Series. Rio Grande Electric Cooperative (RGEC) was proud to assist in sponsoring the Babe Ruth World Series 14-Year-Old Division, held August 8 through 18 in Eagle Pass. The event took place at the Patsy Winn Sports Complex, a beautiful venue, powered by Rio Grande Electric Cooperative.
As sponsor, Rio Grande was asked to take part in throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for 1 of the games. RGEC was selected for the Championship game on the final day of the tournament.
Baseball aficionado RGEC’s GIS/AMI Analyst Daulton Woodson brought the heat as he fired the pitch over home plate to whoops and cheers.
16 teams from the United States, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and Aruba competed in the tournament. Mexico bested the Torrance, California team 8-3 in the Championship game to take home the title.
