Julisa Luna was promoted to Laughlin AFB Area Operations Manager (AOM) effective Monday July 24, 2023. This is a new position, having been recently created as the scope and volume of work at the base intensified, requiring an operations manager strictly devoted to Laughlin. Previously, the responsibility for LAFB fell on the Brackettville Area Operations Manager, Daniel Garza.
While the position itself is new, Julisa is not the first female to hold the position of Area Operations Manager at RGEC.
Julisa became very knowledgeable about the Laughlin system in her former capacity as project manager. She has approximately 8 years of experience working with RGEC. Julisa is a graduate of Brackett High School (Brackettville) and earned degrees in Computer Drafting and Design and in Project Management from ITT Technical Institute.
Ms. Luna says she is eager to embrace her new position and hopes to continue strengthening the Laughlin/RGEC partnership. She says the most challenging aspect of her new position is going to be evaluating existing processes and developing methods to promote efficiencies. Although challenging, Julisa hopes her new role inspires and encourages women to seek employment and managerial positions within the construction vertical. She’s grateful to the Cooperative for providing this opportunity and allowing her to take this next step in her career.
