Longtime co-op employee Martin Flores was recently promoted, after a stint as Senior Operations Manager in Training, under the guidance of soon-to-retire Sr. Operations Manager Steve Wright. Flores brings a wealth of knowledge to his new position as Chief Operations & Engineering Support Officer.
Flores quite literally knows the Cooperative from the ground up. Having been initially hired as an apprentice lineman, he has held numerous positions in his 25 years at the Cooperative, including electrician, electrical foreman, technical services supervisor, manager of technical services, SCADA specialist, and senior operations manager. Experience gained in each of these positions, as well as multiple supervisor training courses conducted through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, readied Mr. Flores for his current position, which became effective May 13, 2024.
Martin still maintains his Journeyman Electrician credentials with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. This assures that Rio Grande Electric Cooperative is always in the know when it comes to the most current industry trends and that employees strictly adhere to the ever-changing regulations contained in the National Electrical Code.
“Martin Flores was the obvious choice for the position,” said CEO Theresa Quiroz. “His journey with us is a testament to his unwavering commitment and exceptional capabilities,” she concluded.
Area operations managers, the engineering services manager, and construction site managers are under the Chief Operations & Engineering Support Officer’s supervision.
If he has any free time, you'll and Martin on the golf course, spoiling his grandchildren, or volunteering for youth sports and church activities. He is the epitome of the ‘Cooperative Spirit’, and strives to reflect these qualities in his personal life while inspiring others to do so, as well.
