Electrical Safety Month Poster Contest Winners

Each year during May, Rio Grande sponsors an Electrical Safety Month poster contest for students, to bring about an awareness of electrical safety. There are two divisions, 1st - 3rd grade, and 4th - 6th grade.

This year’s winner in the 1st-3rd grade division was Kelly Evans, Del Norte Heights Elementary, El Paso, TX. Her poster admonished, “Children do not touch any wires!”

The 4th-6th grade division was won by Eli Johnson, of Jones Elementary in Brackettville, TX, who stopped by RGEC’s headquarters office to receive his certificate directly from Interim CEO Theresa Quiroz.

Both winning students received a $50 gift card for their efforts.

Each student who learned about electrical safety through the contest is a winner, and each was awarded a certificate of participation. Students in any school or homeschool within the 18 Texas and 2 New Mexico counties RGEC serves were eligible to participate, regardless of their parents’ membership in the Co-op.
