It is my privilege to present to you Rio Grande Electric Cooperative’s Annual Report for the transformative year of 2023, themed “Momentum.” This carefully chosen theme reflects our commitment to embodying the principles of motion and growth, drawing inspiration from Sir Isaac Newton’s Laws of Motion.
Newton’s first law states that an object at rest will remain at rest, and one in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. In the realm of business, this resonates with the idea that momentum is the sustained and positive movement of an organization toward its multifaceted goals, including financial performance, growth, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.
Crucially, we recognize that momentum is unattainable without motion. In our context, the force driving the Cooperative’s forward motion is an internal drive for excellence and innovation. As we propel forward, it is imperative to acknowledge and embrace this driving force, fostering an environment that encourages growth and innovation at an accelerated rate.
However, Newton’s second law teaches us that friction can impede this motion. To maintain our forward momentum, we actively work to reduce or eliminate friction. Our approach involves strategic planning, robust succession planning, and a meticulously developed construction work plan. These initiatives, shaped with insights from our members and board of directors, are our means of smoothing out the rough spots, ensuring the seamless continuity of the Cooperative’s journey.
Momentum, to be truly impactful, must be nurtured over time. While it may not last indefinitely, the momentum we seek for Rio Grande Electric Cooperative demands continual care and attention. This report delves into the efforts of each department, revealing how they contribute to creating and sustaining the momentum that propels us into the future.
