The 2026 Rio Grande Electric Cooperative (RGEC) Director election is underway. The election process was revamped in 2024 to encourage greater participation. To qualify for a spot on the ballot, every prospective candidate, including incumbents, must participate in a petition process, ensuring a fair and inclusive selection process.
To run by petition, 15 or more members from the district in which a petitioner is seeking a seat must sign the petition. The affidavit of eligibility and signatures must be submitted to RGEC by May 5, 2026.
Districts Open for Election
- District 2: Seat Currently vacant
- District 5: Seat currently held by William R. Foster
- District 6: Seat currently held by Damon Harrison
- District 8: Seat currently held by Bryon Garrison
Voting for the 2026 director election will begin September 8 and close October 7. Results will be announced at the 2026 emPOWER Summit, held on October 11.
