Backup Generators
Generators are useful when temporary power is needed and can provide an alternate source of electrical power in the event of an outage. For safety purposes, standby generators are prohibited from exporting power to RGEC’s distribution system. Solar panels provide a long-term solution for generating your own electricity, unlike generators which are typically used for temporary or backup power during outages. Installing a photovoltaic (solar) system is a significant investment, but it can help reduce energy costs and increase energy independence. Before committing, it’s important to carefully review purchase or lease agreements and understand any requirements or restrictions from your electric company, including rules around system installation and interconnection.
