PUC Docket No. 59336: The Howard–Solstice Transmission Project and a New Grid Frontier
This docket addresses the routing of a proposed 765 kV transmission line generally extending from Bexar County to Pecos County, with potential routes traversing portions of RGEC’s service territory in Crockett, Edwards, Kinney, Pecos, Terrell, Uvalde, and Val Verde Counties.
At this time, RGEC does not have a formal position on the specific routes under consideration. Many of our members have taken differing positions on routing options, and because these matters are highly personal to individual landowners, RGEC’s role is to remain focused on system safety, reliability, and sound engineering practices. To date, no issues within those areas have been identified that would warrant RGEC taking a position on a particular route.
RGEC supports the continued development of transmission and generation capacity to serve the Permian Basin, recognizing the growing demand in the region. At the same time, we remain committed to ensuring that any infrastructure that may affect our system meets established standards designed to protect safe and reliable electric service.
While RGEC is not participating as a formal party in the proceeding, we will continue to monitor the case.
