Notice to Members: Election by Acclamation
In accordance with the Bylaws of Rio Grande Electric Cooperative, Inc. (RGEC), members are advised that if only one qualified candidate is nominated for a position on the Board of Directors, that candidate may be declared elected by acclamation. This means that no formal election will be held for that position, as permitted under the RGEC Bylaws.
This process helps reduce election costs and streamlines governance when a race is uncontested. All nominees must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in Article IV of the Bylaws, including residency, energy usage, and conflict-of-interest standards. Candidates must also submit a completed Affidavit of Eligibility and a petition with the required number of member signatures.
We encourage all interested members to review the qualifications and consider serving. Your participation is vital to the continued success and leadership of our cooperative.

Running By Petition – Deadline: May 5, 2026
To run by petition, fifteen (15) or more members from the district in which a petitioner is seeking a seat must sign the petition. The affidavit of eligibility and signatures must be submitted to RGEC by May 5, 2026.
